May 22 Around Plozévet

This morning is sunny but a bit cool. We go for a short drive before breakfast. The sea is really close, less than two miles away. This area is protected.

Beautiful waterfront. Then it's away to some village near Plozévet. I didn't note the name at the time and now I've forgotten.

I play tourist on the boardwalk along the docks.

We meet two old gentlement, they start talking with us. Quebecois, not Canadian. Ah yes, sorry, it's different. DSK, everybody talks about the "affaire" here. One of two men pronounce Déheskon. I think his opinion is clear enough. The conversation ends with the statement of one of two who announces that he is in favour of independence for Brittany.

We decide to have lunch in a restaurant right by the docks. The kitchen is one floor up! The servers run up and down the stairs, down with plates in their hands. We wait quite along time.

Time has passed since the previous sentence and this one. We came in at 13:05, our appetizer plate is served at 13:50. I am surprised: mussels, very plentiful, are served naked, I mean, in their shells, but no sauce. Roger notes that the diners on the terrace have mainly gone and service should be faster now. We both ordered Dieppe xxxx, and is well cooked, the sauce, delicious. People who came in just after we did just got their main course delivered at the time we finish ours. The chocolate mousse is honorable.

It was good, all in all, but I would not recommend the restaurant. Roger could hear the head chef screaming at semi-regular basis in the kitchen. I remind him that this is pretty much a fact of life in nice restaurants and that a young man we knew, who hat got accepted as an intern at a highly rated restaurant, which was his dream, had preferred to drop everything, tired of the atmosphere of unbearable tension that prevailed. Roger said certainly not back at home. I say hmm. In fact, I don't know.

The Photograph has now gone up in the air, along with Yann Bourdic. They boarded a plane to go for aerial pictures. I hope they will enjoy themselves because, in order to go, Roher had to call off an appointment we had with a friendnof Françoise, who had invited us to have dinnermat his place. But his late afternoon appointment was the only possible time for Roger and Yann to go.
